FIRST JOB AFTER ROSE-HULMAN?

Electrical Engineer for Affiliated Engineers, Inc., one of the largest MEP (mechanical, electrical and plumbing) design firms in the US.

MOST VALUABLE LESSON YOU LEARNED ON THAT JOB?

Be patient. The opportunities will come. Listen to all the conversations and ask lots of questions.

MOST MEMORABLE ROSE-HULMAN PROFESSOR?

Dr. Berry [Electrical and Computer Engineering]. He was down to earth, was always able to put discussion in the real world perspective and was always available.

IDEAL WEEKEND?

Pre-COVID: Start with a Friday night fish fry at a local supper club (classic Wisconsin!) with family, a long run or bike in the morning on Saturday, followed by coffee with the girls, my daughter's hockey game, a delicious farm-to-table style dinner with perfect wine pairings with my husband, then a relaxing Sunday with some time to prep for the week, and one more hockey game. During COVID: Supporting a local restaurant by ordering take-out, a movie as a family, then a long workout on both Saturday and Sunday. Sprinkle in a few Zoom/Teams/FaceTime calls with friends and family. And cheering on my daughter at her hockey games, then playing some pond hockey when we get home!

STAR TREK OR STAR WARS?

Neither.

WHAT IS THE NERDIEST THING YOU DO?

During peak triathlon training I track everything - sleep, calories burned, nutrition, heart rate, weight, etc.

ADVICE TO INCOMING ROSE-HULMAN STUDENTS?

The technical is important, but learn the life skills too - communication is key. Create meaningful relationships- they will last you a lifetime and create opportunities beyond what you could ever imagine
