Chemical Engineering Names Winter 2020-21 Noel E. Moore Achievement Award Recipients

The Department of Chemical Engineering recognizes the good attitudes that these students show toward learning and congratulates Jack Raker, Spencer Miller, and Brooke Schroeder for being great role models.

The Department of Chemical Engineering has announced the winners of the Noel E. Moore Achievement Award for winter quarter 2020-21.

The winners are sophomore Jack P. Raker, junior Spencer A. Miller, and senior Brooke C. Schroeder.

Each quarter, the department recognizes academic excellence on the part of our students. The awards are named in memory of Professor Noel E. Moore, an outstanding educator and faculty leader on campus for 30 years. Moore served for a decade as head of the Department of Chemical Engineering, was an early leader of Operation Catapult, and was a key advocate for making the institute co-educational. He was named an emeritus faculty member after his retirement in 1998. He passed away in 2018.

WINTER QUARTER 2020-21 NOEL E. MOORE AWARD WINNERS

Jack Raker (Sophomore)

Jack Raker is being recognized for his positive contributions to the learning process and his diligence. Dr. Adam Nolte, head of the Department of Chemical Engineering, says that professors note that, by being an attentive participant in class and asking thoughtful questions, Jake helps improve the classroom environment. "He is always willing to work with others and work together to master new material," Nolte adds. "In addition, Jack has demonstrated a high level of ethicality. Congratulations, Jack!"

Spencer Miller (Junior)

Spencer Miller is being recognized for the diligence that he puts forth in his classwork. "Whether it is in the classroom or office hours, Spencer clearly puts his time and energy into developing a thorough understanding of course concepts, which enables him to achieve at a high level," Nolte says. "Additionally, Spencer is always willing to help his fellow classmates whenever they have questions. Congratulations, Spencer! Keep up the hard work!"

Brooke Schroeder (Senior)

Brooke Schroeder is being recognized for her steady and enthusiastic dedication to her coursework. "Brooke is not afraid to ask questions and proactively reaches out to her professors for help when something isn’t clear," Nolte says ."She works well with her classmates and she brings a lot of positive energy to the classroom. Congratulations on your Noel Moore Award, Brooke!"
