Ashley Parker

Meet Ashley

A biomedical engineering major from Monrovia, Indiana who wants to help people with hearing loss.

What do you most expect to gain from being part of our scholars program?

I expect to gain the opportunity to take my academics to a whole new level and access to connections with people who are contributing to advances in the career path that I am choosing.

How do you spend your free time?

I love to play with my dog, Rosie. I also love to volunteer in a variety of ways, from
working my local food pantry to helping coach a little league soccer team.

What is the nerdiest thing you do?

I don't necessarily have one thing that is nerdier than everything else because I do multiple little nerdy things, from playing with technology to Legos to wearing shirts with science and math puns.

How do you hope to change the world with the knowledge you’ll gain at Rose-Hulman?

I hope to use the knowledge that I will gain from Rose-Hulman to change the world for people that live with hearing loss just like me by improving adaptive hearing equipment.

How did you know Rose was right for you?

It is one of the best engineering schools in the country, and the small campus helps me feel better about dealing with my hearing loss while at college. I also participated in Operation Catapult, which is how I fell in love with Rose.
