Palmer Harrell

Meet Palmer

An electrical engineering major with a desire to bring minority kids into STEM.

What do you most expect to gain from being part of our scholars program?

To learn how to become the best engineer and citizen that I possibly can be.

How do you spend your free time?

I love to play tennis and swim and I also enjoy singing.

What is the nerdiest thing you do?

I'm really into physics so I've made an apple catapult and I do a lot with things around my house in little mini experiments because it's interesting.

How do you hope to change the world with the knowledge you’ll gain at Rose-Hulman?

I hope to be able to be a stepping stone for minority children to be exposed to engineering at a young age. The only way that minority kids can be exposed to STEM is by having minorities in STEM.

How did you know Rose was right for you?

Everybody who helped me with the process of coming to Rose has been AMAZING. The size of the school makes me feel that all my professors will know me and that all the students will also, and it's such a good community. Also, the alumni that I have spoken with have been absolutely amazing.
