Nathan Hurtig

Meet Nathan

A computer science major from Ohio who loves rocketry

What do you most expect to gain from being part of our scholars program?

The community of Noblitt scholars has impressed me - I'm grateful to be a part of it. It'll be a great story to tell my kids how I was friends with the founder of the next big tech company.

How do you spend your free time?

Free time for me ranges from reading to rocketry to relaxing. I love to get lost in a project, especially the creative design process.

What is the nerdiest thing you do?

I've always been a trendsetter - I was practicing social distancing before it was cool.

How do you hope to change the world with the knowledge you’ll gain at Rose-Hulman?

Because Rose-Hulman focuses on STEM, humanities can be taught with respect to how they affect Rose-Hulman's majors. I hope to use the diverse minors and humanities Rose-Hulman offers to bring a fresh perspective to my field.

How did you know Rose was right for you?

Rose-Hulman's academics and job placement stats were what motivated me to attend, but when I met the student community, that's when I knew. Before classes even started, I connected with hundreds of people who are driven, kind, and share my interests. A school is only as good as its students, and that's why Rose-Hulman is the best.
