Meet Mandy
A mechanical engineering major from Kansas who hopes to compete in NASCAR.
What do you most expect to gain from being part of our scholars program?
I am the founder of a speaking tour called Race To Stop Bullying, and I speak to students about kindness, self-confidence, and pursuing your dreams. Being a Noblitt Scholar provides me with an opportunity to receive an amazing education while allowing me to continue racing and grow my platform to inspire others to reach their potential! I am honored to have this opportunity, and excited to represent Rose through my speaking and community outreach initiatives for a lifetime!
How do you spend your free time?
When I'm not studying, speaking, or racing my Asphalt Pro Late Model, I love hammocking and paddle boarding with friends, watching fun movies, and 3D designing and printing different things!
What is the nerdiest thing you do?
I have these really cute math socks that have a variety of formulas and equations on them. I LOVE showing people my math socks and talking about how much I love engineering. I'm a nerd - I know! I embrace nerdiness!
How do you hope to change the world with the knowledge you’ll gain at Rose-Hulman?
Rose-Hulman not only teaches you to be a successful engineer, but also to work with others and be successful in everything you do. After graduation my goals are to start an engineering firm; be a NASCAR Big 3 driver; eventually a team engineer, Crew Chief, and Team Owner; and continue to promote self-confidence, kindness, and passionate pursuit of your dreams in the world.
Attending ANY college would help me reach any one of these goals, but earning a degree at Rose-Hulman would set me up for success in ALL of these goals!

How did you know Rose was right for you?
Rose stands for all the values that are important to me. Being a force for good, setting myself up for success, and following my passions are several areas the Rose-Hulman community and I are similar. I knew from the beginning it was the perfect fit for me and I know how much it means to go to Rose. When I got my acceptance letter I literally cried tears of happiness. You can only imagine my reaction when I was selected to be a Noblitt Scholar. I am so honored to have these opportunities and excited for the next 4 years I will spend at Rose.
