Meet the Rose Prime Professors

Sarah Forbes

Dr. Sarah Forbes

My name is Dr. Sarah Forbes (she/her/hers) and I am the Director of Student Academic Success as well as the Rose Prime Director and an RHIT100 instructor. In these roles, I help students discover college-level strategies for academic success. I grew up in central Illinois, earned a BA in Psychology, an MA in Experimental Psychology, and a PhD in Curriculum & Instruction. I love binge watching Friends and The Big Bang Theory, rooting for the St. Louis Cardinals, and eating at Chick-fil-A. I'm looking forward to meeting you and walking alongside you in your transition to college!

Leanne Holder

Dr. Leanne Holder

My name is Dr. Leanne Holder (she/her/hers) and I am a professor of mathematics at Rose-Hulman. Along with my nearly 25 years of experience teaching Calculus, I taught logic & set theory at a Waldorf school, led cyrptography lessons for elementary students, and helped create tutorial videos for Girls' Adventures in Mathematics.  I serve as both a local and state MATHCOUNTS coordinator for the state of Indiana.  In my spare time, I enjoy playing pickleball, reading sci-fi novels, completing jigsaw puzzles, paddleboarding with my dog, and finding creative ways to annoy my two teenage children; one is starting his sophomore year in college in Texas, and the other is a high school senior.

Meet the Rose Prime Mentors

Hannah Snider

Hannah Snider

My name is Hannah Snider (she/her/hers) and I recently graduated with my degree in chemical engineering and chemistry from Rose-Hulman. I served as the Head Mentor for Rose Prime from 2021-2023, and will be helping with the program before starting a PhD program in the fall.  As a Rose student, I was involved with the Noblitt Scholars Program, Alpha Chi Sigma (a chemistry fraternity), Rose's chapter of American Institute of Chemical Engineers, and student research. My hobbies outside of school include indoor cycling, road biking, reading, and playing euchre. I am greatly looking forward to discussing how the math concepts covered during Rose Prime can be applied to real world problems!

Jared Kagay

Jared Kagay

Hello! I'm Jared Kagay, a rising junior Computer Science student here at Rose. On campus, I am part of the InterVarsity Christian Fellowship, where I coordinate the worship band, as well as Computer Security Club and Floor Hockey Club. When I'm not doing homework, I love making music, working on nerdy CS side projects, and participating in floor intramurals. I am so beyond excited for Rose Prime this summer; my goal is to help students put the FUN in the First FUNdamental Theorem of Calculus (I promise it’s possible 😁)!

Josie Sowell

Josie Sowell

My name is Josie Sowell (she/her/her) and I am a rising sophomore studying biomedical engineering. At Rose, I am involved with InterVarsity Christian Fellowship, Orchestra, Greek life, and intramurals! Outside of school, I like to explore local spots (especially coffee shops), spend time in nature, and read. I can not wait to introduce you to Rose-Hulman, the Terre Haute community, and some very important calculus concepts!

Jonathon Hammond

Jonathon Hammond

My name is Jonathon Hammond (he/him/his) and I am a rising sophomore pursuing biomedical and mechanical engineering here at Rose-Hulman. I am involved on both the Cross Country and Track teams, both the concert and jazz bands, American Society of Mechanical Engineers, and I am also a member of Alpha Lambda Delta (an academic fraternity). Outside of school, I like to run, read, and travel, and I love learning new instruments. Something about Rose Prime that I am looking forward to is making learning math concepts fun for everyone, and showing how math concepts are used in engineering.

Cesar Osornio

Cesar Osornio

Hi! My name is Cesar Osornio (He/Him) and I am a rising junior studying mechanical engineering here at Rose! I'm involved with Rose Rocketry's Rose Propulsion Laboratory, Electric Propulsion Research, and the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers. I enjoy playing guitar, cooking, and listening to music outside of school. I'm looking forward to tutoring Calculus concepts and showing that there's way more to Rose than just class and homework!

Camden Judson

Camden Judson

My name is Camden Judson and I am an upcoming sophomore majoring in Chemical Engineering here at Rose-Hulman. I am a member of NCAA varsity baseball team, Phi Gamma Delta, and am a native of Terre Haute, Indiana. Outside of school and baseball, I enjoy exercising, country music, and spending time with my family at home. I am most excited about being on the other side of Rose Prime and helping incoming freshmen adjust to Rose, as I was a part of Rose Prime in the fall of 2023.
