Greg King Joins Rose-Hulman as Vice President of Enrollment Management
Greg King is Rose-Hulman’s newest vice president of enrollment management. He will provide strategic leadership for student recruitment, financial aid, and enrollment strategy.
Greg King joined Rose-Hulman on December 8 as its newest vice president of enrollment management. He joins President Robert A. Coons’ administrative Cabinet and will provide strategic leadership for student recruitment, financial aid, and enrollment strategy as the top-ranked STEM college continues to advance the goals of its Advancing by Design strategic plan.
King brings more than 17 years of senior enrollment leadership experience in both private and public higher education. Most recently, he served as a principal consultant for Higher Ed Enrollment Solutions, where he provided interim enrollment leadership and strategic guidance to colleges and universities nationwide. In that role, every partner institution met or exceeded its new student enrollment goals for 2024 and 2025, a reflection of King’s expertise in data-informed decision-making, strategic communication, and process optimization.
Prior to his consulting work, King served as dean of admissions at Illinois Wesleyan University, where he led the institution to its first total enrollment increase in more than a decade. He also developed a comprehensive ambassador program connecting faculty, alumni, students, and community partners with prospective families, and collaborated on initiatives that strengthened both financial aid strategies and local student access.
King has also held senior leadership positions at Concord University, Glenville State University, and King University, consistently delivering measurable enrollment growth, strengthening institutional processes, and building high-performing teams. Known for his collaborative approach, mentorship of emerging leaders, and ability to engage stakeholders across campus, King has been a sought-after speaker and contributor on the future of enrollment strategy.
“Greg’s strategic mindset, deep experience, and commitment to data-informed decision-making make him an exceptional fit for Rose-Hulman,” said President Coons. “His track record of developing collaborative teams, expanding student access, and designing purposeful recruitment strategies will be invaluable as we continue to elevate our enrollment efforts and strengthen the pathways through which talented students discover Rose-Hulman. His leadership will help us continue attracting students who thrive within our mission and contribute to our culture of excellence.”
King will succeed Tom Bear, EdD, who has served as vice president of enrollment management since 2019. Bear will assist with a smooth transition through March 2026. He has strengthened Rose-Hulman’s enrollment operations through increased structure, enhanced use of data, expansion of external networks, and a more intentional, student-centered approach—positioning the college well for future success.
King holds a master’s degree in higher education leadership from Marshall University and a bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, and economics from King University. He and his wife, Candy, reside in Marshall, Illinois.
“I have long admired Rose-Hulman’s national reputation for excellence and innovation in STEM education,” King said. “This community’s commitment to student success, hands-on learning, and continuous improvement resonates deeply with my own values. I am excited to partner with faculty, staff, alumni, and community members as we build on the strong foundation already in place and continue to expand the reach and impact of a Rose-Hulman education.”
