Clare Longendyke performs at White Chapel.

Clare Longendyke will perform Sunday, October 26, in a free piano recital at Rose-Hulman’s White Chapel as part of the college’s Discovery Music Series.

Rose-Hulman Artist-in-Residence alumna Clare Longendyke, D.M., will perform musical delights both familiar and rare during a free piano recital on Sunday, October 26, at 5 p.m. in the White Chapel as part of the college’s Discovery Music Series. The concert is free and open to the public, with no tickets required and seating on a first-come, first-served basis.

Longendyke has been part of Rose-Hulman’s Discovery Music Series since its inception in 2016 and served as the Humanities, Social Sciences, and the Arts (HSSA) Department’s Artist-in-Residence during the 2023–24 academic year. Known for her engaging performances and passion for audience outreach, she brings outstanding musicianship and an educator’s spirit to each recital.

This performance connects directly with Rose-Hulman’s “Baroque, Classical, and Romantic Music” course, offered this term. Longendyke visited the class the prior Tuesday to preview the concert and co-lecture with Associate Professor of Music David Chapman, PhD, on programmatic piano music of the Romantic era.

Longendyke is an award-winning soloist, chamber musician, and musical innovator who performs with orchestras and in recital series across the country. Her programming often bridges beloved works from the classical canon with underrepresented gems, showcasing her commitment to creating inclusive, vibrant concert experiences. The Discovery Music Series, established in 2016, was created to bring live chamber and classical music experiences to Rose-Hulman students and the Terre Haute community—connecting performances directly with the college’s academic offerings and offering these concerts free of charge to the public.

The White Chapel is located on the west side of Rose-Hulman’s campus, overlooking Speed Lake.
