Agnes Berzsenyi

Tech Leader: Agnes Berzsenyi leads GE Healthcare's global services product management team that's developing new service offerings to meet the needs of healthcare providers throughout the world.

GE Healthcare vice president Agnes Berzsenyi, an alumna and trustee of Rose-Hulman, has been named among America's 100 Women to Watch in business by Bizwomen magazine.

The national publication, with regional affiliates throughout the country, examined the accomplishments of leading women in business and technical fields. Other executives on the list included Patty Hatter, vice president and general manager of professional services for Intel; Pamela Jackson, vice president of technology for Emerson; Jennifer Biry, chief financial officer for AT&T Technology & Operations; Amanda Mathis, vice president of finance for Bridgestone Americas Inc.; Roberta Lang, global vice president and general manager for Whole Foods Markets Inc.; Sheryl Adkins-Green, chief marketing officer for Mary Kay, Inc.; and Whitney Davis, manager of entertainment diversity for CBS Corp.

Berzsenyi leads the global services product management team that's bringing new service offerings to meet the needs of healthcare providers in the United States and Europe, as well as in third-world countries in Africa. The two products she is most credited with advancing are the Vscan pocket-size ultrasound unit and Dosewatch, which measures cumulative radiation doses a patient receives through CT scans.

An example of her mind-set on such projects: She wanted to make the Vscan as common and easy to use as the ubiquitous stethoscope around physicians' necks.

"Our goal was to redefine the physical exam," she says.

The native of Hungary joined General Electric's technical leadership program after attending a job fair while earning a master's degree in mechanical engineering at Rose-Hulman in 1995. She started in the aviation business before transitioning to health care and moving in 2007 to GE Healthcare's office in Wauwatosa, Wis.

"I'm blessed to have a unique opportunity to be a part of the changes we are driving, not only at GE but also in worldwide healthcare; having a passion and belief in the purpose. That's what drives me," she says.

Berzsenyi, a mother of two teenage girls with her husband Daniel (a 1994 mechanical engineering alumnus), finds time to mentor women within GE as well as encourage middle school girls to enter technical fields through the company's GE Girls program focused on STEM. She is a member of the GE Healthcare Women's Network and the Rose-Hulman Board of Trustees, and received the Rose-Hulman Alumni Association's Career Achievement Award in 2015.
