Isabella Patterson

Meet Isabella

A biomedical engineering major from California who enjoys choreography and K-Pop.

What do you most expect to gain from being part of our scholars program?

I expect to gain a more in-depth understanding of how my education and talents can benefit other people and how I can continue to make a positive and long-lasting impact on the world. I also hope to learn how to best destigmatize engineering to the general public so we don't scare off great minds that are scared of the challenge.

How do you spend your free time?

I spend my free time listening to music, creating choreography, or watching shows from various different countries.

What is the nerdiest thing you do?

The nerdiest thing I do is learn K-Pop choreography and I am currently working on putting a numerical ranking on the 59 K-Dramas I have watched. I made a spreadsheet with a formula and different categories that my friends also have their own tabs on so we can compare results.

How do you hope to change the world with the knowledge you’ll gain at Rose-Hulman?

I hope to be able to develop groundbreaking technology to make the medical field safer. In addition, I hope to be able to take some of the money I earn to support charities and use the knowledge I gain to help out my heroes, the veterans.

How did you know Rose was right for you?

I attended Operation Catapult last summer and I got a feel for some of the instruction. I also really enjoyed that the class sizes are relatively small so I don't get lost in the crowd.
