Rose-Hulman welcomed over 500 new students to campus for the 2025-26 academic year, continuing its tradition of attracting talented young minds from across the nation and around the world. With a median high school GPA of 4.05, the incoming freshman class represents 40 states and 19 countries, with students distinguished by strong academic preparation, diverse perspectives, and a shared passion for science, engineering, and mathematics.
This year’s arrival was marked by the grand opening of Rose-Hulman’s newest residence hall, a modern space designed specifically for first-year students. Housing approximately 160 students, the new facility features lounges, kitchenettes, and study spaces on each floor—providing an immediate sense of community while supporting student collaboration and success.
“Rose-Hulman continues to provide an exceptional student experience that blends academic rigor with a strong community and personal attention,” said President Robert A. Coons. “The opening of our new residence hall reflects our commitment to supporting first-year students from the very beginning of their journey and ensuring they have the resources and environment to thrive.”
Campus updates also mark the start of the new academic year, as Rose-Hulman comes off a record year of fundraising in 2024-25. The Sports and Recreation Center has been refreshed to accommodate expanded wellness and athletics programs. Construction is well underway on the Innovation Grove entrepreneurship district. In addition, a redesigned Computer Science major is being introduced with specializations in Artificial Intelligence, Cybersecurity, Data Science, and more to align with areas of high industry demand. Classes begin Thursday, September 4.
The college also saw the second-highest number of applications for admission in its history—more than 6,000 for the second consecutive year—demonstrating the strong and growing interest in a Rose-Hulman education.
“Our applicant pool continues to grow stronger each year, with record levels of interest and engagement from students across the country and around the globe,” said Tom Bear, vice president of enrollment management. “That enthusiasm carries onto campus, where from day one students dive into hands-on learning with top-notch faculty, take advantage of state-of-the-art facilities, and find community through collaboration and nationally recognized competition teams.”
In August 2025, Rose-Hulman was once again recognized by national publications for academic excellence and student outcomes. The Princeton Review’s Best 391 Colleges for 2026 guide ranked Rose-Hulman among the nation’s best for career placement and as a top value for return on investment. The college was also named to Forbes’ America’s Top Colleges 2026 list and included in the publication’s America’s Top 50 Small Colleges list.
