Top of Class Students Honored for Academic Achievements

Rose-Hulman honored students having the highest grade point averages in their respective graduating classes following the 2018-19 year. Students completing the most graded academic credit hours were recognized as medal recipients.

Thirty-seven students earned Top of the Class scholastic honors during Rose-Hulman’s 2020 Honors and Awards Ceremony, conducted virtually for the first time late this spring.

Medals were presented to the following students for having the top grade-point averages in their respective graduating classes following the 2018-19 academic year, based upon the highest number of graded course hours on campus: electrical engineering and mathematics student Jiaxuan Chen, the Carl Wischmeyer Award as the top junior; computer engineering and computer science student Andrew Johnson, the Paul N. Bogart Prize as the top sophomore; and computer science and software engineering student Yizhu (Michael) Zhao, the Heminway Bronze Medal as the top first-year student.

Juniors named Carl Wischmeyer Scholars were Kevin Ferguson, Jacquelyn Miller, and Gabriel Paree-Huff.

Sophomores earning Paul N. Bogart Scholar recognition were Karen Folz, Marc Fournier, Max Gogel, Hailey Heidecker, Eric Kirby, Kaylee Pate, Justin Starke, and Wesley Turner

Receiving Heminway Scholar awards were first-year students Lyra Bailey, Colin Beach, Matthew Callahan, Abigail Clayton, Olivia Ehrlich, Michael Hall, Madeliene Hamon, Thomas Hoevener, Zachary Kelly, Brendan King, Robert Kreft, Margaret Luffman, Duncan McKee, Taryn Perry, Reed Phillips, Ian Quick, Joshua Selig, Cory Snyder, Cody Steiner, Jacob Tebbe, Danielle Villa, James Werne, and Andrea Wynn.
