There are new roles for some familiar faces within Rose-Hulman’s Office of Communications and Marketing leadership, beginning on March 1. Mary Wade Atteberry has become vice president for communications and marketing, with Paul Shepherd as her new senior director of communications and marketing.

Atteberry has spent the past two years as associate vice president for communications and marketing, overseeing daily operations, and providing direction and supervision for the department. She is an experienced higher education communications professional.

Rose-Hulman President Jim Conwell notes that Atteberry has been instrumental in leading the efforts to improve the institute’s public website and internal communications tools, as well as helping to grow the marketing and communications team and expand the office’s capabilities.

A resident of Westfield, Ind., Atteberry started her career as an Indianapolis Star reporter and editor. She has communications experience at both the K-12 and university level. Prior to coming to Rose-Hulman, Atteberry spent 14 years at the University of Indianapolis, the final two as vice president of communications and marketing. She holds degrees from The Ohio State University and the University of Indianapolis.

Shepherd has been digital content director for the Office of Communications and Marketing. He will now lead all aspects of Rose-Hulman’s web, social media, print, video and digital content.

Prior to coming to the institute, Shepherd spent eight years at Angie’s List, working in media relations, publications and content marketing. He also has been a freelance journalist for the Indianapolis Star and other publications since 2002. The Avon, Ind., resident is an Indiana University graduate.
