Award-Winning Group: The country a cappella group Home Free became nationally recognized in 2013 after winning the fourth season of NBC’s The Sing-Off television show.

Country a cappella group Home Free’s latest tour will bring them to Rose-Hulman’s Hatfield Hall Theater on Saturday, March 25, for a sold-out show that’s part of this year’s Fine Arts Series.

Home Free’s unique sound combines country standards, country-styled pop hits and original songs. Known for show-stopping performances that mix their signature no-instrument, all-vocal music with quick-witted humor, the quintet became nationally recognized in 2013 after winning season four of NBC’s The Sing-Off.

“Home Free is not just an amazingly talented group of singers, they are a true vocal band,” says Dan Tryon, Hatfield Hall’s director of performing arts. “Their bass vocalist will literally shake the house. You'll wonder ‘How low can this guy go?’”

The group, structured like a barbershop quartet with vocal percussion, features tenor Austin Brown, baritone Adam Chance, bass Tim Foust, tenor Rob Lundquist and vocal percussionist Adam Rupp. Founded in 2000 by Rupp and his brother Chris in Mankato, Minn., Home Free frequently performed at fairs, festivals, colleges and theaters around the country, as well as on cruise ships, before being put in the national spotlight with their Sing-Off win. The group has since gone on multiple U.S. and European tours.

Home Free self-produced several albums in its early years before signing with Columbia Records for the first major-label release, “Crazy Life.” The most recent album, “Country Evolution,” reached No. 4 on Billboard’s Top Country Albums chart. It features a mix of original tracks and cover songs by a variety of country and pop/rock superstars, including Dolly Parton, The Oak Ridge Boys, Alabama, The Eagles, Garth Brooks and Charlie Daniels.

The group also has released two popular Christmas albums in recent years, “Full of Cheer” and the 2016 re-release “Full of (Even More) Cheer.” The group’s YouTube channel, which features performances of many of its songs, has more than 138 million views.
