The New Student Orientation Program is a large and exciting program to welcome all of our incoming first-year, transfer, and international students to the Rose‑Hulman community.

The New Student Orientation program is a large and exciting program to welcome all of our incoming first-year, transfer, and international students to the Rose-Hulman community. You'll arrive on campus ahead of returning students so you have time to get to know us and learn about all of the campus resources that are available to you before classes start.

Orientation Information

International Student Orientation (F-1 International Students)

Wednesday, August 22 - Wednesday, August 29, 2018   

Welcome to Terre Haute, IN, the USA, and to the Rose-Hulman family!  The pre-orientation program for international students will take place Wednesday, August 22 - Friday, August 24, 2018 and is REQUIRED for all international students. You will learn how to be successful at Rose-Hulman and you will have the opportunity to meet faculty, staff, and upper-class students. Important information about your F-1 immigration status as well as an overview of campus resources will also be covered.  Upon completion of the pre-orientation program, you will join your new classmates for New Student Orientation (Friday, August 24 - Wednesday, August 29, 2018).  We look forward to meeting you on August 22!

Shuttles from the Indianapolis International Airport will run on Monday, August 21 and Tuesday, August 22.  Shuttle reservations are available for international students ONLY and registration will be available beginning in May using Banner Web.  If you require a shuttle ride, please book your flight reservations around the shuttle schedule or plan to utilize your own transportation. 

The airport shuttle schedule is as follows: 

  • Monday, August 21, 2018:  Shuttles will depart from Indianapolis International Aiport at 8 a.m., 2 p.m., and midnight.
  • Tuesday, August 22, 2018:  Shuttles will depart from Indianapolis International Airport at 8 a.m. and 3 p.m.

*Orientation leaders will be at the airport during these times to meet arriving international students.   

A full orientation schedule will be available in mid-June.

International Student Orientation (J-1 International Students)

Thursday, August 23 - Wednesday, August 29, 2018    

Welcome to your orientation at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology. Your mandatory orientation begins Thursday, August 23, with information specific to your exchange status as a J-1 international student.  Upon completion of this exchange orientation, you will join your new classmates for New Student Orientation beginning Friday, August 24.

A full orientation schedule will be available in mid-June.

New Student Orientation

Friday, August 24 - Wednesday, August 29, 2018

Nowhere is the Rose-Hulman family ethos more evident than in our orientation program. By the end of your first week at Rose-Hulman, you will have a network of friends, know your way around campus, know the rules and ropes, and be familiar with Rose-Hulman's strong support system.

The New Student Orientation program will take place Friday, August 24 - Wednesday, August 29, 2018.  Classes begin Thursday, August 30, 2018.  Please note, classes will be in session on Labor Day (Monday, September 3, 2018).

A full orientation schedule will be available in mid-June.

Parents Orientation

Because parents need orienting, too!

Sure, your student will need your help during move-in day, but what else do we have in store for parents during orientation? Plenty! You can get your financial aid and insurance questions answered, learn about our active Parents Association, take campus tours and more.

The Parents Orientation program will take place Friday, August 24 - Saturday, August 25. 

A full orientation schedule will be available in mid-June.
