Associate Professor of Mathematics
Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology

He was born and rasied in a suburb of Boston [Medfield, Massachusetts], which makes him a die-hard Red Sox and Celtic fan.  [He knows the Sox %*#!$@, but does not want to hear it from anyone else.  Only Sox fans can lambast the Sox.]

After High School, he went to Stevens Institute of Technology in  Hoboken, New Jersey to major in either Physics or  Engineering Physics, but saw the light and changed his major to mathematics.  For those who do not know, Hoboken (or New York City West as it is across the Hudson from New York City) is the birth place of Frank Sinatra who has an honorary degree from Stevens (shrug).

After graduating from Stevens with a BS in applied mathematics, he then went to Northeastern University in Boston for grad school in mathematics specializing in partial differential equations applied to geometrical problems.  His thesis advisor was Bob McOwen.  Tracing his mathematical ancestors through the Mathematics Genealogy Project you will find his mathematical ancestors traced through thesis advisors include David Hilbet and Richard Courant.

Before coming to Rose-Hulman, he taught at Merrimack College in North Andover Massachusetts, and Goucher College in Towson Maryland.

After coming to Rose-Hulman, he met and married his wife Suzanne (formerly Bastin now Finn).  Their son, Jonathan Avery Finn, was born April 18th, 2002 at 12:34 pm.
