Hatfield Hall Theater’s 20th anniversary celebration of the cult classic “Napoleon Dynamite” will feature a movie screening, question-and-answer session with three lead cast members, and other special events. Tickets are still available.

Rose-Hulman’s Performing Arts Series has a special evening planned Tuesday, January 16, to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the classic coming-of-age film “Napoleon Dynamite.”

A screening at 7:30 p.m. in the Hatfield Hall Theater of the beloved independent classic movie will be followed by a lively, freewheeling discussion featuring a special appearance by fan-favorite cast members Jon Heder (Napoleon Dynamite), Jon Gries (Uncle Rico) and Efren Ramirez (Pedro). The actors will answer audience questions, be featured in a game show about the movie, join in a party with the audience, and showcase their talents in several comedy improvisation skits.

The characters within "Napoleon Dynamite" have developed quite a fan following throughout the past 20 years. Napoleon Dynamite is a nerdy high school student who deals with several dilemmas: befriending an immigrant, Pedro, who wants to be class president, while awkwardly pursuing a romance with a fellow student, and living with his quirky family, including Uncle Rico.

The story appeals to the inner teenager within each of us and the film’s witty dialogue makes the movie often quoted, but never duplicated. The film was voted No. 14 on the Bravo network’s 100 funniest movies.

Tickets start at $25. There are special VIP1 tickets available that offer seats within the first three rows of the stage and a special pre-show meet-and-greet session with the cast members. Tickets can be purchased at hatfieldhall.com, by calling 812-877-8544, or visiting the Hatfield Hall ticket desk Tuesday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. If still available, tickets also could be purchased at the ticket desk beginning one hour before the show.
