Terre Haute (490 ft.),
a busy commercial and industrial city of 30,217 inhab.,
on the Wabash River, with some fine buildings and
several educational institutions. It is an important railway-
centre, and steamers descend the Wabash hence to Vincennes.-
The train now crosses the Wabash and enters Illinois.
