Member Background and Expertise




Ken Connor
Ken Connor is the head of the Electrical, Computer, and Systems Engineering Department at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. He is a Fellow of the IEEE.

Rensselaer has been a pioneer of the studio format in engineering courses. The ECSE department is committed to the studio format. Additional information is available on Prof. Connor's website.

Prof. Connor has taught a similar course at RPI for many years.



Karl Smith
Karl Smith is Morse-Alumni Distinguished Teaching Professor at the University of Minnesota. He is a Fellow of the ASEE.

Prof. Smith is a nationally-recognized expert in the use of active and cooperative learning in engineering education.

Active learning is a nature and integral aspect of offering courses in the studio format.



Gloria Rogers

Gloria Rogers is a internationally-recognized expert in engineering education assessment.

She is currently Vice-President for Institutional Research, Planning and Assessment at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology.

In mid-2005, she plans to leave Rose-Hulman to begin duties at ABET.


Sudhir Mehta
Sudhir Mehta is a national-recognized expert in the enhancement of student learning.

Prof. Mehta is Associate Vice-President for Academic Affairs and Professor of Mechanical Engineering at North Dakota State University.
