How mp3 compression works - Demo , p213
These are the demonstrations that go along with the talk How MP3 Compression Works: More music, fewer bits by Mark A. Yoder.

There are five demonstrations here.

Listening to various bit rates

Now is the time listen to how well mp3 compression works.
  1. Select G.wav and click on Play. This is the original uncompressed file.
  2. Select G.br320.wav. No need to pause, you can switch between files as they play. The bit rate of this file is 320k bps, less than 1/4 the bit rate of the uncompressed file. How do they compare?
  3. Select G.br128.wav. The bit rate is 128k bps, about 1/11 the original. Can you hear a difference?
  4. Try the other files? At what bit rate does the compression become noticeable?
