Rose soccer teams on a roll
As the sun shines, the grass blooms without fail, and so have both the men’s and women’s soccer teams. The men’s and women’s soccer teams were both victorious in their games this week.
So far, it has been an incredible journey for both teams. Each team has a great bond together, and it is definitely apparent throughout their game play. This past Saturday was quite an intense game; rival College of Mt. St. Joseph (Ohio) provided a daunting opponent for both the men’s and women’s teams. However, the women’s team had no trouble keeping St. Joseph at bay, winning 6-0. It was an all around valiant team effort. Freshman applied biology major Jeanie Sozansky was content with the victory saying that “It was great beating St. Joseph, it was yet another step in towards winning a championship.”
On the other hand, the men’s soccer team played an extremely close game against St. Joseph, winning in overtime, 1-0. The fans were on the edges of their seats with their teeth clenched hoping for that goal. After scoring the goal, a sigh of relief was heard throughout the crowd. As he caught his breath, freshman mechanical engineering major Mitch Buffington said, “It was an intense victory and one of the best moments of my college career yet.”
The men and women’s soccer teams came out with fire again beating Millikin University (Illinois). The women’s team won by a score of 4-2, and Molly Richardson led Rose-Hulman with two goals. The men also put up a great team effort, taking care of Millikin with a score of 3-1. Both soccer teams are looking to keep up their victorious efforts against Transylvania this Saturday. Fans, remember to come out and support the teams. They love to hear everyone cheering them on during their intense games.
