1899: Spain cedes Puerto Rico to the United States. Spoils of war, man. We get the rum making capital of the Western Hemisphere all because we accidentally blew up one of our own ships Dick Cheney style. Sweet. Oops. On a lighter note, Puerto Rico sports an average temperature of 82.4 degrees Fahrenheit without drastic seasonal changes. I'm currently crying with jealously.
