What’s a Hexapus?

Marine experts in England recently have begun studying an octopus that’s missing two of its own tentacles. The octopus is missing two of its legs due to a birth defect. It shows no evidence of ever having lost its limbs after birth since there is webbing visible between all six tentacles. This means there is no space for any missing limbs to grow back. The octopus has been named ‘Henry’ due to how well it alliterated with ‘hexapus.’ Henry was discovered after being picked up from a local zoo along with several other octopi. He latched himself to the glass on the side of his tank, and one of his keepers noticed his lack of two limbs. No one is aware of any other octopus having similar features as Henry. Until Henry, the sea monster from ‘It Came From Beneath The Sea’ was the most famous six-legged octopus. The movie was made with a very small budget, so designers decided to not add the final two legs.

Texters protected from themselves

A street in London is experimenting with padded lampposts to protect distracted pedestrians from themselves. Brick Lane was recently found the most “‘walking and texting’ injuries in the country.” Many pedestrians have been too connected to their cell phones to pay attention to the objects sitting stationary in front of them. A study that was carried out determined that one in ten people managed to hurt themselves when they gave too much focus to their cell phone. A charity known as “Living Streets” is very worried to the point that they have begun working with the directory enquiries service to “test a scheme to wrap up the nation’s lampposts.” If the project is successful, the post pads will be deployed in Birmingham, Liverpool, and Manchester.

High on Mount Sinai

An Israeli researcher has claimed in a recently published study that Moses was high on drugs when he heard God deliver the Ten Commandments. Benny Shanon said that many “mind-altering substances” were an important part in religious rituals during biblical times. “As far [as] Moses on Mount Sinai is concerned, it was either a supernatural cosmic event…[or] an event that joined Moses and the people of Israel under the effect of narcotics.” He also believes Moses was under the influence of narcotics when he saw the “burning bush.” Shanon said he has used substances that were part of religious ceremonies in the Amazon. He saw visions that connotations of spirituality and religion.
