This day in history

1912: Roald Amundsen first announces to the world that his expedition has reached the South Pole, despite the fact that they reached the pole on December 14, 1911. Apparently, Amudsen could not be heard now in the middle of Antartica.

1969: Golda Meir is nominated as the first female Prime Minister of Israel, which she is eventually elected to. For those who don’t know, Hillary is no Golda Meir. Go Obama! (Please send all responses to Flipside@rose-hulman.edu, where they will be read, then promptly mocked for my enjoyment.)

1994: The Supreme Court of the United States rules that parodies of original works are covered by the doctrine of fair use, forever legalizing the career of one Weird Al Yankovic for the enjoyment and delight of us all. Thank you Supreme Court!
