Revealing my feelings through poetry

Philip Becker

Ah, February. The Season of Love. When those who feel they are alone whine about their loneliness and those who have someone celebrate it openly.

The fun of the season is when those who love in secret reveal their desire. When they step out on a limb to see if that special someone will catch them. The unfolding drama is more entertaining than any reality TV.

This year, I may be the sucker you hope to watch on Fox. I have had these feelings of affection for so long, and never bothered to hide them. But now I must share them with the world. I can’t go another February without letting my love know how I feel. This sonnet is for them.

You should always be in my hands

I love the way you taste on my lips

I want to take you in European lands

But you’re quick to go to my hips

This love is too real to make sense

For you I don’t hesitate on any price

Why do you demand this great expense?

Why is it my wallet you aim to entice?

The cost of school keeps us apart

After all these classes I must pass

I’ll give you my engineer heart

Now until forever our love can last

For you I would freely die

I love you forever, Pizza-Pie
