Bravo Indianapolis
Congratulations to the Indianapolis Colts for finally winning a well-deserved Super Bowl title. I have been a Colts fan for all of my 21 years and couldn’t be happier with my team.
But this is not an article about the Colts, this is an article about the people of Indianapolis and their behavior following the game. Didn’t see it? Well, let me tell you what you missed.
You missed seeing a throng of people gridlock Monument Circle because they were screaming and yelling with joy that their team won.
You missed seeing Colts banners and newspapers proclaiming “CHAMPS!” being waved proudly in the air.
You missed seeing bars and restaurants crowded with fans intoxicated (literally and figuratively) with the thrill of victory.
You missed seeing a capacity-crowd in the RCA Dome on Monday, there just to get a glimpse of their beloved team in a post-win team-centered pep-rally.
You missed a weekend of class-act sportsmanship, not only from the players, but from the entire city.
Here’s what you didn’t see.
You didn’t see cars flipped and burned by looting mobs.
You didn’t see violence among fans as they rioted and tore up downtown.
You didn’t see the SWAT team as they pulled up to quell the crowd.
You didn’t see flaming trails carved through the air by molotov cocktails.
You didn’t see the wonderful type of party thrown by the people of Detroit, Oakland, Philadelphia, or Chicago.
