Red Sox land Matsuzaka

Former Seibu Lions starter Daisuke Matsuzaka passed his physical and was officially welcomed as the latest Boston Red Sox on Thursday. The deal that brings him to Boston is worth $52 million over six years. There is also a chance for Matsuzaka to win $8 million based on awards he wins during his contract period. he Boston Red Sox must also pay $51.11 million to the Seibu Lions for the right to negotiate with Matsuzaka.



Hunt dies at 74

Kansas City Chiefs owner Lamar Hunt died on Wednesday night due to complications that arose from cancer. The National Football League visionary had been hospitalized in November and was treated for prostate cancer and a partially collapsed lung. Hunt’s accomplishments in the NFL include assisting in the naming of the Super Bowl and spearheading the merger between the AFL and the NFL.



Crosby on top in NHL

Pittsburg Penguins center Sidney Crosby took the NHL scoring lead on Wednesday night when he scored six goals in the Penguins’ win over the Philadelphia Flyers. The Penguins beat their rivals by a final score of 8-4. Crosby is the scoring leader with 47 points in 27 games.
