Step 2: Inspire
A background in engineering, science and math sets a great foundation from which students can pursue a wide variety of professions after graduating from college. However, students are often pressured into certain fields based on their college degree. Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, a premier institute for science, math and engineering education, constantly pushes its students to reach for innovative and different solutions to real world problems. To ensure that Rose-Hulman students are continually reminded of their ability to reach farther than their college degree, we are focusing our TEDx conference on inspiring students to do new and different things with the tools we are presented with in college.
Step 1 is graduating from college. What’s your “Step 2?”
What is TEDx?
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TED has created a program called TEDx. TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. Our event is call TEDxRoseHulman, where x=independently organized TED event. At our TEDxRoseHulman event, TEDTalks video and live speakers will combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events, including ours, are self-organized.
