OHIO. -- The Rose-Hulman
Institute of Technology women's soccer team won its first Heartland
Collegiate Athletics Conference match of the season as they defeated Defiance 3-2
Saturday afternoon.
Junior Molly Richardson (Orange Park, Fla./St.
John's Country Day) led the Engineer offense once again with two goals.
Senior Monica Guzik (Avon, Ohio/Padua Franciscan) also scored
her first goal of the season during the game.
Junior Annmarie
Stanley (Warrenville, Ill/Rosary) picked up three assists as she had
a direct input in all three goals.
Richardson scored her first goal in the 47th minute of the game.
Guzik then scored her goal just 1:32 later to make the score 2-0
early in the second half. Richardson then scored her second
goal of the game in the 65th minute to seal the victory for the
Engineers.
Defiance
scored both goals late as Alexandra Johnson scored in the 88th
minute of the game. Lauren Ranalli then scored in the last
minute of the game to make the score 3-2.
The
Engineers outshot Defiance 19-9, lead by six shots by Richardson.
Guzik had four shots of her own.
Rose-Hulman
is now 2-7 on the season and
returns to action at home October 10 as they face
conference opponent Manchester.
