GREENCASTLE, IND. -- The
Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology women's soccer team earned its first
ever victory over DePauw University with a 2-0 win on Wednesday night.
Senior Julie Roebel (Cincinnati,
Ohio/Seton) put the Engineers on the board with a goal in the 37th
minute, courtesy of a pass from freshman Eli Baca (Santa Fe, N.M.).
Senior Jennifer Gordon (Zionsville) added an insurance goal in the
65th minute to secure the victory.
Senior Rachel Miller (Spring,
Texas/Klein Collins) provided the shutout in goal with five saves in a
match.DePauw outshot the Engineers 10-8
in the match, with junior Liz Ridgway (Grosse Pointe, Mich./Northwestern
U.) and freshman Molly Richardson (Port Orange, Fla./St. John's
Country Day) leading Rose-Hulman's effort with two shots each.
Rose-Hulman improved to 9-2 on the
season with its sixth consecutive victory and its first win over the Tigers
in eight tries. The Engineers host Manchester College on Saturday at
11 a.m. in a Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference matchup.
