TERRE HAUTE, IND. --
Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology placed three players in double
figures to earn a 63-56 victory over Robert Morris-Springfield in
women's basketball action on Tuesday night.
Freshman Donna Marsh
(Mobile, Ala./ Baker) led the Engineers with 17 points and 10
rebounds for her sixth double-double of the season.
Senior Katie Tharp
(Linton) added 12 points and eight rebounds, while junior Liz
Ridgway (Grosse Pointe, Mich./Northwestern) pitched in 12 points
on 6-9 from the field.
Freshman Nicole Klass
(Evansville/North) came off the bench for nine points, while
senior Jill Floyd (Bloomington, Ill./Olympia) scored eight.
Senior Brittany Moline (Indianapolis/Perry Meridian) also had
nine rebounds and three steals.
Stephanie Brake scored a
game-high 18 points for Robert Morris-Springfield. LaTonya
Boyd tallied 13 points, while Katie Fleetwood had 11 for the Eagles.
The Engineers jumped out to
a 28-19 halftime advantage by holding the Eagles to 22% shooting
from the field.
Rose-Hulman pushed the lead
as high as 10 points in the second half, before Robert Morris closed
within one late in the contest. The Engineers scored eight
straight points to turn the 47-46 edge into a nine-point lead in the
final five minutes to secure the win.
Rose-Hulman improved to 7-8
with the victory, while Robert Morris-Springfield dropped to 6-12
overall. The Engineers return to action on Saturday at
Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference foe Hanover College.
