Brenda Goble

Brenda Goble remains the only women's
volleyball coach in Rose-Hulman history. Goble has led the Rose-Hulman
volleyball program through a steady pattern of progress, culminated with a
school-record 17 victories and her first conference Coach of the Year honor
in 2001.
She also served as the women's tennis
coach at Rose-Hulman from 2000-07, helping lead the team to a record setting
performance and a second-place finish in the HCAC in 2007.
After leading the inaugural 1996 squad to three victories,
Goble led the Engineer volleyball squad to 11 wins in 1997 and 15 victories
in 1999. The Engineers won 16 matches in 2000 before finishing a
program-best fourth in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference and
earning 17 victories in 2001. The 2003 team also won 16 matches and
finished sixth in the league. Both her 2003 and 2004 squads finished
7-11 in the competitive SCAC. Last season, the Engineers improved
their win total to 12 on the season, highlighted by a 10-3 start.

Goble served as an assistant women's volleyball and women's basketball coach at
Washington & Lee University for two seasons prior to coming to Rose-Hulman. She helped
the NCAA III school based in Lexington, Va., to a 29-6 record in 1995 and an Old Dominion
Athletic Conference title.
Goble was a two-sport standout at NCAA III Guilford College. She was the Old Dominion
Athletic Conference women's basketball Player of the Year in 1993 and '94, and the
league's volleyball Player of the Year in 1993. The middle hitter was a three-time,
first-team All-South Region volleyball player, and was a three-time, honorable mention
Kodak All-American as a center on the basketball team. She was awarded the North Carolina
Collegiate Award for Excellence in 1993.
Rose-Hulman's volleyball program will continue to play in the
Sports and Recreation Center this season -- a $19.5 million, 156,000-square-foot facility
that is considered one of the top small college athletic and recreation facilities in the
country. The facility has hosted several marquee events, highlighted
by the 2002 and 2003 NCAA Division III Women's Basketball National
Championships.
Goble earned a degree in physical education from Guilford College in 1994, with minors
in sports management and sports medicine. She is a native of Orlando, Florida, where she
graduated from Luther High School in 1990.
Allison Steiner begins her second season on
the Engineer coaching staff this fall.
Steiner played two years of college
volleyball at the University of Evansville from 2001-02, after earning
all-conference honors during a standout high school career. She spent one
semester abroad at Harlaxton College in Grantham, England in 2003, before
earning a bachelor’s degree in physical education from Indiana State
University.
Off the court, Steiner has served as a
teaching assistant and tutor in the Vigo County School Corporation for the
last three years. She has also volunteered with several community
organizations, including Big Brother/Big Sister, the 14th and Chestnut
Community Center, and the Special Olympics.
In addition, she has also coached the
Crossroads of America volleyball squad for two years. Steiner and her
husband Andrew reside in Terre Haute.
