LEXINGTON, KY. --
Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology maintained its share of the Heartland
Collegiate Athletic Conference lead in volleyball with a four-set victory over
Transylvania University on Thursday night.
Rose-Hulman captured the first
set by a 25-18 margin, before Transylvania knotted the match with a 25-19 win.
The Fightin' Engineers improved to 4-0 in HCAC play and 17-6 overall by winning
the last two sets by identical scores of 25-23.
Sophomore Karah Hickman
(Hobart) led the offensive attack with 10 kills and junior Amanda Jevons
(Henderson, Nev./Rancho) added seven for the Engineer offense.
Sophomore Leah Pelzel
(Loveland, Ohio/ Mount Notre Dame) paced the squad with 33 assists, while
freshman Anna Lewer (Indianapolis/Lutheran) and junior Samantha
Gregory (Huntsville, Ala./Catholic) had three service aces each.
Gregory recorded 21 digs to
lead the Engineers, with Lewer contributing 19. Sophomore Morgan
Williams (Fenton, Mich./Powers Catholic) had a team-high five blocks and
Hickman had three block solos.
Rose-Hulman returns to action
on Friday with a trip to Wilmington for matches against the host Quakers and
Mount Union College.
