CARLINVILLE, ILL. --
Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology swept both Westminster and Blackburn
Saturday to move their overall volleyball record to 14-5.
In the Westminster match, Rose-Hulman
won in three sets, 25-22, 25-9, 25-19. Sophomore
Morgan Williams (Fenton, Mich./Power Catholic) and junior Amanda
Jevons (Henderson, Nev./Rancho) led the offensive attack with seven kills
each. Williams also led defensively with four total blocks.
Senior Kate Sernett (Crystal
Lake, Ill./ Marian Central Catholic) led Rose-Hulman's defensive effort with 13 digs.
Freshman Anna Lewer (Indianapolis/Lutheran) picked up 11 digs.
Lewer also had three aces in the contest.
Sophomore Leah Pelzel
(Loveland, Ohio/Mount Notre Dame) contributed with 26 assists.
Against host Blackburn, the
Engineers again won in three straight sets, 25-6, 25-17, 25-8. Williams
again led the team, this time with 11 kills. Pelzel picked up 29 assists
and also had 12 digs. Junior Samantha Gregory (Huntsville,
Ala./Catholic) led the team defensively with 15 digs in the match.
Rose-Hulman is now 14-5 on
the season and returns home to face conference foe Manchester and Cincinnati
Christian Saturday.
