FRANKLIN, IND. --
Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology moved to 2-0 in Heartland Collegiate
Athletic Conference play with a four-set victory over Franklin College on
Thursday.
After losing the first set
23-25, the Engineers came back to win the next three sets 25-16, 25-20, 25-16.
Senior Kate Sernett (Crystal
Lake, Ill./ Marian Central Catholic) led Rose-Hulman's effort with 11 kills
and added 11 digs.
Freshman Anna Lewer
(Indianapolis/ Lutheran) added nine kills, nine digs and four blocks.
Junior Amanda Jevons (Henderson, Nev./Rancho) and sophomore Morgan
Williams (Fenton, Mich./Power Catholic) had eight kills each.
Sophomore Karah Hickman
(Hobart) contributed seven blocks, including five block assists, to key the
defensive effort.
Sophomore Leah Pelzel
(Loveland, Ohio/Mount Notre Dame) paced the team with 38 assists and added
six kills and four blocks. Junior Samantha Gregory (Huntsville,
Ala./Catholic) added a team high 15 digs.
Rose-Hulman is now 12-5 on
the season and travels to Blackburn College on Saturday to face Westminster College
and Blackburn.
