  Rose-Hulman News Rose-Hulman Tops Olivet, Falls to Heidelberg at DePauw Invite

TERRE HAUTE, IND. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology stands 8-4 on the volleyball season after defeating Olivet College in three sets and falling to Heidelberg University in three sets on Friday.

Heidelberg opened the day with a 25-19, 25-18, 25-16 victory over the Engineers.  Rose-Hulman rebounded to defeat Olivet 25-23, 25-20, 25-16 in the nightcap.

Freshman Anna Lewer (Indianapolis/ Lutheran) led the offensive effort with nine kills, and junior Amanda Jevons (Henderson, Nev./Rancho) added seven kills with just one error against Heidelberg.

Sophomore Leah Pelzel (Loveland, Ohio/ Mount Notre Dame) recorded match highs of 23 assists and 11 digs for the Engineers. 

Sophomore Karah Hickman (Hobart) recorded four total blocks, with Lewer and sophomore Morgan Williams (Fenton, Mich./Powers Catholic) contributing three block assists each.

In the Olivet match, Lewer reached double figures with 10 kills to lead the offense.  Pelzel recorded 22 assists, with Lewer and senior Kate Sernett (Crystal Lake, Ill./Marian Central Catholic) had two service aces each.

Other key contributors included junior Sara Telezyn (Terre Haute/South Vigo) with 10 digs and the duo of Jevons and Williams with two solo blocks each.

Rose-Hulman stands 8-4 on the season and returns to action with two matches on Saturday, beginning with a matchup against Millikin at noon.
