TERRE HAUTE, IND. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology volleyball team stands 5-3 on the season after a three-set win over Aurora and a five-set loss to Lincoln Christian at Hulbert Arena on Friday night.

The Fightin' Engineers captured a 26-24, 25-14, 25-23 victory over Aurora in the opener, before falling to Lincoln Christian 25-27, 22-25, 28-26, 25-14, 15-11 late Friday night.

Against Aurora, freshman Anna Lewer (Indianapolis/ Lutheran) led the balanced offensive attack with 10 kills.  Junior Amanda Jevons (Henderson, Nev./Rancho) pitched in with nine kills.

Sophomore Leah Pelzel (Loveland, Ohio/Mount Notre Dame) led the passing effort with 31 assists.  The duo of junior Samantha Gregory (Huntsville, Ala./Catholic) and Lewer recorded 13 and 12 digs, respectively.

Jevons recorded four blocks, including three solo efforts, against Aurora.  Sophomore Morgan Williams (Fenton, Mich./Powers Catholic) led the serving performance with two aces.

In the nightcap, Lewer led the offensive effort with 14 kills, four blocks and 18 digs.  Jevons tallied 10 kills with three blocks, and Pelzel recorded 39 assists, 10 digs and three blocks.

Other keys to the efforts included sophomore Karah Hickman (Hobart) with eight kills and three blocks; and Gregory with 19 assists.

The Engineers conclude the Rose-Hulman Invitational with matchups against Eureka and Blackburn on Saturday beginning at 10 a.m.
