-- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology junior diver Michael
Gerdov (Lincolnshire, Ill./Adlai Stevenson) claimed the
individual title at the Engineer Diving Invitational to lead the
team performance on Saturday.
Gerdov recorded
393.50 points on 11 dives to top a field of 13 divers from six
institutions, including perennial powers Wabash, Wittenberg,
Wisconsin-Whitewater and DePauw.
The effort marks
the second consecutive year that Gerdov has won a title at the Rose-Hulman
Invitational. He earned the one-meter title last season.
Senior Mark
Parzych (Pearland, Texas/Central) added a second-place finish in
one-meter diving to narrowly outdistance Gerdov, who placed third.
Parzych recorded
377.30 points on 11 dives to place behind only Matthew Erenpreiss of
Wittenberg with a total of 386.65. Gerdov recorded 371.75
points.
Other competitors
for Rose-Hulman included freshman Nicole Richardson (Janesville,
Wis.), who placed eighth in one-meter diving with 210.45 points;
and sophomore Julian Ametsitsi (Marysville, Wash./Marysville-Pilchuck),
who placed 14th in one-meter diving with 209.25 points.
