Michael Gerdov set a pair of school records at the
Titan Diving Invitational. |
BLOOMINGTON,
ILL. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology diving team
captured the Illinois Wesleyan Diving Invitational, which also
doubles as the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin
Diving Championship, on Saturday.
Freshman Michael
Gerdov (Lincolnshire, Ill./Adlai Stevenson) captured the
three-meter championship with a school record effort of 377.50
points. He added a second school mark with a second-place
diving performance in one-meter with 331.85 points.
Junior Matthew
Melton (Griffith) joined Gerdov on the all-conference team with
a second-place effort in three-meter diving. Melton tallied
356.05 points in three-meter and came home third with 331.85 in
one-meter.
The title
represents Rose-Hulman's first diving victory in a conference
championship format and occurred with tutelage from team diving
coach Carey Stapleton.
Senior Matt Hein
(Escondido, Calif./San Pasqual) claimed two fifth-place honors
with 279.55 points in one-meter and 244.05 in three-meter.
On the women's
side, Hannah LaFleur helped the Engineers finish fifth in the
league with 209 points in one-meter.
