Adam Effinger captured top honors in the 50-freestyle.

TERRE HAUTE, IND. -- The Rose-Hulman men’s and women's swimming and diving team combined for five first-place finishes in a dual meet against Lindenwood University on Saturday at the Sports and Recreation Center.

Freshman Katie Trella (Des Plaines, Ill.) improved her own third-best 1,000-freestyle time in school history with a time of 11:44.69 to lead the victories.  She added a second in the 500-freestyle in 5:44.60.

Freshman Heather Weist (Arlington Heights, Ill.) added another victory on the women's side with a time of 1:09.05 in the 100-backstroke.

Junior Nick Lee (Bryan, Texas) paced the men's effort with wins in the 100-freestyle (49.30) and the 200-freestyle (1:49.93). 

Senior Adam Effinger (Plainfield) added the remaining men's victory with a 50-freestyle time of 23.40.  He also placed second in the 500-freestyle in a time of 5:07.32.

Other runner-up finishes for the Engineers women included freshman Caitlin Kohli (Lima, Ohio) in the 200-freestyle (2:13.39) and sophomore Sam Danesis (Akron, Ohio/Revere) with 158.35 points in one-meter diving.

On the men's side, second-place finishers included junior Steven Vande Lune (Kokomo) in the 1,000-freestyle in 10:55.71; junior Jacob Sorensen (Enterprise, Ala.) in the 100-butterfly in 55.43; sophomore Brian Yount (Bloomington, Ill.) with a time of 23.85 in the 50-freestyle; and the 200-medley (1:42.84) and 200-freestyle (1:35.47) relay teams.

Rose-Hulman returns to action at the Wabash College Invitational next weekend.
