Nick Lee and the Engineers captured
top honors at the Rose-Hulman Relays.

TERRE HAUTE, IND. -- The Fightin' Engineers turned four relay victories into a men's team title at the Rose-Hulman Swimming Relays on Saturday.

Rose-Hulman's women recorded one victory and four second-place finishes to place second in the event.

The 200-yard freestyle relay team of sophomore Brian Yount (Bloomington, Ill.), senior John Whitten (Akron, Ohio/Walsh Jesuit), junior Nick Lee (Bryan, Texas) and junior Steven Vande Lune (Kokomo) earned the first victory of the day in a time of 1:32.59.

The next winner was the 400-yard butterfly crescendo relay of freshman Andrew Ulrey (North Oaks, Minn.), freshman Michael Ulrey (North Oaks, Minn.), senior Adam Effinger (Plainfield) and senior Jacob Sorensen (Enterprise, Ala.) in a time of 1:31.86.

The third victorious relay team for Rose-Hulman was the 100-freestyle relay squad of junior Ben Butz (Beloit, Wis./Memorial), sophomore Jacob Sikora (Kalamazoo, Mich./Otsego), sophomore Chris Routh (Muncie/Yorktown) and Whitten in a time of 44.64 seconds.

The 400-freestyle relay team of Sorensen, Effinger, Lee and Vande Lune wrapped up the men's winners with a time of 3:21.99.

On the women's side, the 400-backstroke crescendo relay teams of sophomore Deb Aleksa (Glendale, Ariz./Dear Valley), sophomore Sarah Nejfelt (Gosport/Edgewood), freshman Heather Weist (Arlington Heights, Ill./Buffalo Grove) and sophomore Stephanie Hance (Noblesville) claimed top honors with a time of 4:41.60.

Rose-Hulman returns to action at the Wabash College Tri-Meet including Illinois Wesleyan University next Saturday in Crawfordsville.
