Nick Lee won two individual events and one relay in the 2007-08 season opener.

TERRE HAUTE, IND. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology earned seven first-place efforts to open its 2007-08 swimming and diving season in a duel meet with Centre College at the Sports and Recreation Center on Saturday.

Senior Adam Effinger (Plainfield) and junior Nick Lee (Bryan, Texas) led the Engineer effort with two individual and one relay top honor.

Effinger won the 100-yard butterfly in a time of 55.00 seconds and added a 100-breaststroke victory with a time of 1:04.60.

Lee earned top honors in the 50-yard freestyle (22.64 seconds) and the 100-yard freestyle (50.38).  The duo teamed with senior Jacob Sorensen (Enterprise, Ala.)  and junior Steven Vande Lune (Kokomo) for a 200-freestyle victory in a time of 1:31.86.

The Rose-Hulman women's squad added two victories in the season opener.  Sophomore Deb Aleksa (Glendale, Ariz./Dear Valley) won the 100-yard breaststroke in a time of 1:20.50 for an individual honor.  The team of sophomore Stephanie Hance (Noblesville), freshman Katie Trella (Des Plaines, Ill./Maine Township), freshman Heather Weist (Arlington Heights, Ill./Buffalo Grove) and senior Anita Isch (Buffalo, Minn.) added a 200-freestyle victory in a time of 1:51.22.

Rose-Hulman returns to action in the Engineer Relays next Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Sports and Recreation Center Natatorium.
