Three First-Places Lead Rose-Hulman Swimming vs. St. Mary's College

Dana Andre combined with Leslie Cottingham, Sarah Nejfelt and Heidi Rorick on a 400-freestyle victory.

TERRE HAUTE, IND. – Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology relied on three first-place finishes to highlight a dual meet loss to St. Mary's College (South Bend) at the Sports and Recreation Center on Saturday.

Freshman Stephanie Hance (Noblesville) captured top honors in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:04.69 and contributed seconds in the 200-freestyle (2:10.65) and the 100-backstroke (1:06.09).

Senior Elaine Kratz (Telford, Pa./Lansdale Catholic) added a victory in the 100-breaststroke in a time of 1:20.51. She also placed second in the 100-freestyle in a time of 1:01.13.

The 400-freestyle relay team of junior Leslie Cottingham (Attica/Seeger), junior Dana Andre (Morris Plains, N.J./Whippany Park), freshman Sarah Nejfelt (Gosport/Edgewood) and senior Heidi Rorick (Monroeville/ Bishop Dwenger) rounded out the wins with a time of 4:46.29.

Other runner-up efforts included freshman Deborah Aleksa (Glendale, Ariz./Dear Valley) in the 200-individual medley in a time of 2:24.29; and Andre in the 100-breaststroke in a time of 1:32.47.

The Rose-Hulman season continues with a trip to the Wabash College Invitational on Friday and Saturday.
