Men's Swimming and Diving Places 2nd, Women 3rd at Rose-Hulman Relays

Adam Effinger led the way in the 100-butterfly with an impressive early season time of 52.76 seconds.

TERRE HAUTE, IND. – Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology captured second and third place honors at the annual Rose Relays swimming meet at the Sports and Recreation Center on Saturday.

Lindenwood University topped the Engineer men 192-171, with Vincennes placing third and Principia fourth.  The Engineers women captured third place honors by topping Principia.

Winning relay teams for the Engineer men included the 400-butterfly crescendo relay team of freshman Landry Carbo (Lafayette, La./Episcopal Acadiana), sophomore Nick Lee (Bryan, Texas), junior Adam Effinger (Plainfield) and junior Jacob Sorensen (Enterprise, Ala.) with a time of 3:49.27, and the 400-freestyle relay team of freshman Brian Yount (Bloomington, Ill.), Lee, Effinger and junior John Boylan (Oswego, Ill./Aurora Central Catholic) in a time of 3:24.44.

On the women's side, winners included the 400-yard individual medley women's relay teams of freshman Deborah Aleksa (Glendale, Ariz./Dear Valley), junior Leslie Cottingham (Attica/Seeger), senior Elaine Kratz (Telford, Pa./Lansdale Catholic) and freshman Stephanie Hance (Noblesville) in a time of 59.42 seconds.  The 100-freestyle relay team of Hance, senior Heidi Rorick (Monroeville/ Bishop Dwenger), Kratz and Aleksa also won in a time of 51.39 seconds.

Rose-Hulman hosts a Tri-Meet with Wabash College and St. Mary's College next Saturday at the Sports and Recreation Center.
