Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology looks to capture its first trip to the NCAA Division III Tournament after claiming its first Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference title this spring.

The Engineers hold the rare feat of leading the HCAC in batting average, pitching earned run average and defensive fielding percentage entering the 2008 tournament.  Rose-Hulman reeled off a school record 10-game winning streak earlier this season and has won a school record 24 games entering the league tournament.

Two strong pillars of the pitching staff have led the team's efforts this season.  Jordan Goslee has a 12-2 record and a 1.05 earned run average to lead the Engineers.  Goslee ranks among the national top 20 in strikeouts with 140 in her 100 innings of work.  Katie Maggard has tallied an 8-3 mark in the circle with nine complete games and 66 strikeouts in 80.2 innings of work.  C.J. Weist has contributed a 3-3 record for the pitching staff as a freshman.
Offensively, sophomore Brittany Bernthold leads the team with 48 hits, 27 runs scored and a .393 batting average.  Senior Ashley Montgomery is batting at a .374 clip, with Katie Frey (.366), Kyla Lutz (.354), Katie Yiznitsky (.306) and Kristin Greer (.304) all over the .300 mark this season.  Goslee has a .287 batting average, while Maggard (.271), Darcie Thomas (.261) and Kayla Yano (.246) round out the Engineers most consistent starting lineup.
Rose-Hulman compiled a 13-3 record in HCAC play to share the league's regular season co-championship with Bluffton University.  The Engineers earned hosting rights for the tournament, however, after defeating Bluffton 6-2 and 6-1 on March 29.
