TERRE HAUTE, IND. --
Justine Johnston tossed a complete game and Cara Hughes blasted a two-run home
run to lead Defiance College past Bluffton University 4-1 in game two of the
Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Softball Tournament on Friday.
Hughes launched a two-run
home run as part of a four-run fourth inning that provided all of the Defiance
offense. Marah Robinson added a pair of hits, including a double, for the
Yellow Jackets attack.
In the circle, Johnston
scattered five hits and allowed just one run in her 20th complete game of the
season. She recorded four strikeouts and improved to 14-6 on the season
with the victory.
Lindsey Miller paced the
Bluffton offense with a solo home run in the first inning. Abby Snider
added a pair of hits, including a double.
Defiance improved to 20-16
on the season with the victory, and the Yellow Jackets will square off with
Rose-Hulman tonight at 8 p.m. in game four of the tournament. Bluffton
stands 25-16 on the year and will play against Mount St. Joseph at 6 p.m.
