DECATUR, ILL. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of
Technology earned its second straight shutout win over a College
Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin opponent with a 2-0 win at
Millikin University on Wednesday.
Senior Rhys Evans (Lake Bluff, Ill./ Lake
Forest) and junior Paul Bouagnon (St. Charles,
Ill./Burlington Central) provided the goals, and sophomore
Eric Davenport (New Lenox, Ill./ Lincoln Way Central)
provided the shutout in net for Rose-Hulman.
Evans scored in the 20th minute to help the
Engineers earn a 1-0 lead at halftime. Sophomore Clint
Vatterrodt (Bloomington, Ill./ University) provided the
assist on the game's first score.
The two teams battled for much of the remainder
of the game, before Bouagnon scored in the final minute on a
pass from junior Mitchell Ishmael (Knoxville, Tenn./Farragut).
Rose-Hulman outshot Millikin 22-4 in the contest
and earned a 10-3 edge in corner kicks. Davenport recorded
his second shutout of the season and the fourth Fightin'
Engineer shutout in 2009. Evans led the offensive effort
with six shots, and Vatterrodt added four.
Rose-Hulman improved to 5-4-1 on the season with
the victory and returns to action on Saturday at Defiance
College in a Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference matchup.
