INDIANAPOLIS, IND. --
Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology advanced to the Heartland
Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament semifinals with a 9-0
victory over Manchester College on Saturday afternoon.
Junior Scott Grubbs (Wildwood, Mo.)
and junior Michael Schoumacher (Memphis, Tenn.) won at the first two
singles spots, then combined for a win at No. 1 doubles.
Sophomores Alex Gumz (Palatine, Ill.)
and David Becerra (Brownsburg) added No. 3 and No. 4 singles victories,
along with a No.2 doubles win.
Sophomore Seth Hendrickson
(Crawfordsville) pitched in a No. 5 singles victory, with sophomore Brent
Frizzell (Avon) winning at the No. 6 spot. Hendrickson and sophomore
Dallas Burton (Haughton, La.) rounded out the performance with a No. 3
doubles victory.
The Fightin' Engineers earned their ninth
consecutive victory to improve to 12-7 on the campaign. Rose-Hulman will
square off with Defiance College on Sunday at 8 a.m., with the title match set
for 11 a.m. on Sunday.
