TERRE HAUTE, IND. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of
Technology had a solid showing with a ninth-place finish Saturday at the Gibson Family
Invitational meet.
Leading the way for the
Engineers was sophomore Micah Aldrich (Indianapolis, Ind/Warren
Central) who ran the 8,000 meter race in a time of 26:43, which
placed him 18th overall in a field of over 200. Junior
Tyler Kreipke (Zionsville, Ind) finished with a time of 26:59
which placed him 29th.
Other runners in the team competition for Rose-Hulman
included junior David Caldwell (Plymouth, Ind), 27:53, sophomore
Josh Elkins (Brownsburg, Ind), 28:31, and senior Eric Clark
(Wooster, Ohio/Triway), 28:50.
Rose-Hulman finished the meet in 9th place out of
14.
The meet was one of the Midwest's largest college meets with 26
institutions and more than 500 runners competed. Several nationally ranked teams competed in the
college division, including the Heidelberg
University men (No. 28 in Division III) and the Manchester College
men (No. 35 in Division III). The deep and talented field also
featured five men's
squad that are ranked among the top 10 in their respective NCAA
Division III regions.
The university division contained regionally
ranked NCAA Division II squads in Bellarmine and Northwest Missouri
State.
The meet is a tribute to the Gibson Family, which has helped
create the nation's top NCAA cross country course that has hosted the
Division I national championships for six consecutive years.
Greg Gibson, a 1982 Rose-Hulman graduate, enjoyed a standout cross
country career as a Fightin' Engineer and has been inducted into the
college's Athletic Hall of Fame.
